Today I have finished off one of my quilts, what a change! This quilt I started quilting in the christmas holidays but had to take it off the machine as I had a couple of customers quilts that had to be done and of course it never got back on the machine. Now I have a reason I had to get it finished so its all done except for the binding. My hump and bump feathers are getting better and I even did the pebble spine in the feathers on the borders.

Tonight at the sit and sew I try to get to once a month at the patchwork shop I picked the violet fabrics for my Aunts quilt. At least now I will have a few months to get the quilt made and quilted by January. I plan on doing a simple strippy quilt the same as the quilt pictured so the actual piecing for this quilt doesn't take long at all. As well as having done this quilt once before and I also have another cut out and half sewn together.

This and that.......

We had a bit of now you see it now you don't as the clouds were going over but I did manage to get a few very blurry photos. I was amazed actually to get any as I don't have the steadiest hands in the world (which is why they are blurry I guess) and I was only using my normal two or three year old digital camera. Anyway here they are, what a gorgeous colour it was.

Nothing heralds the approach of spring like flowers. Not that I have much in the garden at the moment but there are a few little flowers poking up their heads. The earlicheer jonquils have been out for a week or two already. They have been closely followed by the plain jonquils and the grape hyacinths are just starting to open up. They are usually just a little bit before the weeping cherry, thats always beautiful, its such a pity they only flower once a year. The tulip leaves are up it will be interesting to see if we get flowers this year as they have been getting fewer I think I will have to plant some more.

Last but not least are the voilets. These were my Nan's favourite so when I see them out during the winter I always think of her. When she died I had bunches of them put into her wreath and I gave my Aunt and my Mother a bunch each out of it. I don't know what my Mother did with hers but my Aunt dried hers and has them still. The voilets I photographed this morning are pink ones, I had never seen this colour until we moved to this house and they were already in the garden. There are also the traditional purple ones but I couldn't get the right light to photograph them this morning as the sun hadn't come over the top of the pine trees in that part of the garden. I noticed recently in the patchwork shop that she still has the Vintage Voilets range and my mind has been ticking over with what sort of quilt I could make out of that range in memory of my Nan.

I have been prodded!

By Sharon and Lissa. Yes I know I have been extremely slack. First of all after the birth of Coco and doing a little bit of running around to help Holly (as she couldn't drive for three weeks or so)there was my eye. I had a small growth removed from my lower lid in March ten days before Rebecca and Brents wedding which turned out to be a BCC (skin cancer). Unfortunately there were cancer cells in one of the margins which meant I had to go back again and have it redone. So that was four weeks ago. As it turned out they got it all the first time and this time there were no cancer cells. That was the good news. The bad news was it was a lot worse this time. They had to cut the outer corner to take another wedge out of the bottom lid then rejoin it before restitching the outer corner so it was a lot more bruised a lot more swollen and a lot more watery so blurry vision which meant no working for two weeks. Oh well at least its done now although its still healing and gets very itchy and still puffy at times.

Isabella Poppy at 22 months.

Coco Daisy at approx 3 weeks.

Today was my birthday so we went down to have lunch with the kids and grand-girls. I really am very lucky to have such good kids and such lovely grandkids. They all gave me money towards my tickets for Phantom of the Opera which we are going to see Friday 31st, dinner and show package so I am just crossing my fingers we get Anthony Warlow.(and a gorgeous bunch of flowers and Sharon gave me a friendship angel)

Workwise in the past few weeks I have quilted one custom and a couple of edge to edge quilts. Unfortunately my rechargable batteries keep losing power so I didn't get any photos of Sue's quilt which was the custom.

This is Jills stack and whack quilt, I put one of Irene Steele's feathered garden pantos on it.

This is Dot's cute quilt for her grandaughter. I just did a freehand meander on it with hearts daisies and butterflies.

Julie's cute Noahs Ark panel which I put a Noah's Ark panto on.

Julie's very cute bunny quilt which I put Cats paw (bunnies paw) panto on. Julie has been very busy this year!

Susan's star quilt which has Ribbons and Roses on it although its hard to see in this photo.
